Invincible season 1 was a complete blast to watch and I absolutely loved it. Invincible follows 17-year-old Mark Grayson on his journey to becoming the superhero Invincible. His father is also a superhero known as Omni-Man that is a part of the Vultrimite Empire that he says is a peacekeeping Empire that helps planets and gives them new technology to improve their civilization. Mark gains his powers while taking out the trash at his job and he accidentally throws the garbage bag into space. Throughout the show, Mark learns to use his powers while he takes on new villains and learns new life lessons.
While that may sound like a really basic Superman ripoff it is definitely not the show is very grounded in its own world and is focused on Mark's relationships with friends and family. It also goes deeper into the consequences that being a superhero can have and how it can negatively affect their relationships with other people.
The show does a great job of making you feel like all of these characters could be real people. The show does this by giving each character their own hurdles to get over. For example, there is a character named Eve in the show that is a superhero named Atom Eve. In the show in just a matter of episodes, she gets cheated on by her boyfriend, and she and her parents get in a huge fight about how she wants to go out on her own and help save the world in a different way than just stopping bank robbers or alien invasions. While the actual context of these situations might be different for you I'm sure you could relate to getting into a fight with your parents or your significant other cheating on you. I could go on and on about how the show does this with so many of its characters, but I would be here writing for days if I did that.
In my opinion, the best part about this show is the absolutely stellar voice cast. With Steven Yuen and J.K. Simmons leading the way as Invincible and Omni-Man respectively. The voice acting blew me away. You can tell that everybody apart of the cast cared about this show and put their all into it. You can especially tell this during emotional scenes as in the finale episode there is a certain scene that is very emotional between Omni-Man and Invincible that might be some of my best voice acting I've ever heard. It isn't just them that do a great job though I loved Jason Mantzoukas as Rex Splode and Walton Goggins as Cecil. I also thought some of the guest appearances were great like Seth Rogen playing Allen the Alien I thought was awesome.
Now even though I absolutely love this show it isn't perfect and one of the show's main weaknesses is the animation. While it isn't bad it also isn't all that great and the quality of animation switches between every scene. While some scenes are animated beautifully like the scene where Mark saves a family when fighting Doc Seismic. Other scenes lack the fluidity others do. You can obviously tell which scenes they decided to put more of the budget into. Most of the time they made the right choices, but even then you can definitely see that they were hindered by the budget and the kind of action scenes they could do.
All in all, I absolutely loved this show and will probably end up rewatching it soon. They do a great job creating characters you can believe could be real people and in making a compelling story that hooks you right from the start. The voice acting is absolutely incredible and as a comic reader, I can not wait to see the next arc fully animated next season. While the show is hindered by their animation I would still highly recommend this show and would give it an 8.5/10.

Sounds really cool gonna check it out.
